Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Compress Image ("we", "us", "our"), available at compressimage.in, collects, uses and protects information when you use our website and tools, including Compress Image, Resize Image, Crop Image, Convert Image, Image to PDF, Rotate Image and Merge Images. We built this policy to be as plain and readable as possible — privacy notices shouldn't need a law degree to understand.
By using Compress Image, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions and Disclaimer.
Information we collect
We collect two broad categories of information:
- Images and files you upload so a tool can compress, resize, crop, convert, rotate or merge them.
- Technical and usage data such as browser type, device type, approximate location (country/city level), pages visited, and general usage patterns, typically gathered through standard analytics.
We do not require an account, email address or payment detail for everyday use of our core tools, so for most visitors we never collect personal contact information at all unless you choose to email us directly.
How we handle uploaded images
When you upload a photo to any tool on this site, the file is transferred securely and processed only to perform the action you requested — for example, shrinking a JPG to a target size, or converting a PNG to WebP. We do not view, browse, catalogue, or use your images for training, marketing, or any purpose beyond completing your request.
Uploaded and processed files are automatically deleted from our servers within a short window after processing completes. We do not keep a long-term copy of your images. Because of this, please make sure to download your result promptly, and keep a backup of your original file — once a file is deleted from our systems, we cannot retrieve it, as also noted in our Disclaimer.
Cookies & similar technologies
Like most websites, we may use cookies and similar local-storage technologies to remember basic preferences, keep the site functioning correctly, and understand how our tools are used in aggregate so we can improve them. These are not used to identify you personally. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; doing so may affect some optional site features but will not prevent you from using our core image tools.
Third-party services
We may use trusted third-party services for analytics, performance monitoring and, on some pages, advertising, to help keep Compress Image free to use. These providers may collect information such as your IP address and device information under their own privacy policies. We choose providers that follow recognised privacy and security standards, and we encourage you to review frameworks like the EU's official GDPR overview if you'd like to understand the broader legal standards that shape how responsible services like ours are expected to handle data.
Data retention
We follow a simple rule: keep as little as possible, for as short a time as possible. Uploaded images are retained only for the duration needed to process your request, plus a short buffer to allow you to download the result, after which they are automatically and permanently deleted from our active storage. Technical logs used for security and troubleshooting (such as error logs) may be retained separately for a limited period, but these are not linked to the visual content of your images.
Data security
We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted transfer (HTTPS) and access-restricted infrastructure — to protect your files and data while they are on our systems. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Combined with our short data-retention window for uploaded images, our goal is to minimise the amount of time any of your data exists on our servers at all.
The short version
We collect the minimum needed to run our tools, delete your images automatically after processing, and never sell your personal photos.
Do Not Track signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that sends a signal to websites you visit. There is currently no single, universal industry standard for how sites should respond to DNT signals, so Compress Image, like many websites, does not currently change its behaviour based on DNT signals alone. Instead, we focus on minimising data collection by design — for example, by not requiring an account for everyday tool use and by automatically deleting uploaded images, as described above.
Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict how your personal data is used, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise these rights, or ask any question about your data, by emailing us at support@compressimage.in with the subject "Privacy request" — see our Contact Us page for more ways to reach us. Because we don't retain uploaded images beyond the short processing window, most image data will already have been deleted automatically before any request is even received.
Children's privacy
Compress Image is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it promptly.
International users
Compress Image is available to users worldwide, and your information may be processed on servers located outside your own country. By using our tools, you consent to this processing in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, tools, or legal requirements. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page occasionally.
